Waterloo, IA (August 16, 2024) More than 300 members of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) representing 33 states will spend a coaster-filled weekend venturing across Iowa and Missouri to experience Lost Island Themepark, Adventureland Resort and Worlds of Fun during the 2024 ACE Preservation Conference. The annual preservation conference is in support of ACE’s mission to draw attention to the preservation of parks and coasters. At Lost Island on National Roller Coaster Day, attendees will be part of the reveal of their new attraction for 2025. One of Saturday’s highlights will be the ACE Roller Coaster Landmark presentation for Adventureland’s Tornado wooden roller coaster. The park has made a significant investment in its preservation efforts, which included retracking several sections of the coaster and having its trains rebuilt by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc. Sunday’s visit to Worlds of Fun will include a park history presentation and a behind-the-scenes experience of their haunted houses as they prepare for the upcoming Halloween season. “This weekend offers an opportunity to support ACE’s mission to preserve roller coasters at three parks that should be on everyone’s list when visiting the region. Lost Island has preserved two roller coasters from Africa and Europe as well as built a high-tech interactive dark ride that is an experience like no other. Adventureland is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the debut of the state’s largest drone show and the reimagined Underground, the world’s only indoor wooden roller coaster. Worlds of Fun will feature ERT (exclusive ride time) on its steel and wooden roller coasters, including iconic nighttime ERT in the dark on two wooden coasters from Great Coasters, International,” stated ACE Communications Director Derek Perry. Dedicated to the preservation, promotion, appreciation and safe enjoyment of roller coasters, ACE has always had a preservation component in its core mission since its origins in 1978. The ACE Preservation Fund offers financial assistance to roller coaster owners and operators around the world to lend aid when needed. Funds may be available to assist with the cost of needed repairs or refurbishment work to ensure a roller coaster continues to offer guests thrills, fun and memories for years to come.
