Donate to ACE

Thank you for your interest in donating to American Coaster Enthusiasts, Inc. (ACE). Your support will help ACE's mission to foster the conservation, appreciation, knowledge and enjoyment of roller coasters for current and future generations. In addition to fundraising, ACE is preserving a collection of materials documenting past ACE activities and events, amusement park memorabilia and physical objects. To support these activities, donors can send gifts that help document the history of roller coasters, recognize and preserve significant coasters that remain in operation and restore and catalog significant artifacts and memorabilia from historic coasters and parks no longer in operation, as well as artifacts and memorabilia that help document the history of the club.

Any information concerning the value of any object donated or potentially donated cannot be provided by ACE, as the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) considers such activity by a 501c(3) nonprofit a conflict of interest. Donors may want to find a qualified appraiser to examine their objects prior to donation. The IRS does not permit the receiving institution to appraise donated objects, and ACE cannot offer tax advice.

Please note that all donations become a part of ACE's archives collection and cannot be returned. IRS statutes require that household items and clothing contributed to ACE must be in at least good used condition to be deductible. This requirement does not apply to contributions of paintings, antiques, other art objects, jewelry and gems, or collections, and does not apply to the contribution of an item for which a deduction of more than $500 is claimed if the taxpayer obtains a qualified appraisal of the item. Donated items can be used at the club’s discretion to best serve the mission and goals of the organization.

Monetary donations are always welcome and appreciated. ACE maintains separate donation fund accounts earmarked for specific purposes, and donations may be made to any of these funds. Information regarding the use of each of the donations funds is listed below.

Further information regarding ACE's Fundraising Compliance is also available.

ACE Archives Fund

The ACE Archives Fund is dedicated to the acquisition, storage, cataloging and preservation of historic roller coaster and amusement park artifacts and documents. The archives also document ACE’s history. Cataloging the thousands of items acquired by ACE for future online research in a searchable database is one of ACE’s priorities.

ACE Preservation Fund

The ACE Preservation Fund supports donations specifically earmarked for the preservation of roller coasters. Were it not for donations from this fund, Leap The Dips, the world’s oldest roller coaster, would not have been restored and reopened in 1999. Other beneficiaries of this fund include Bay Beach Amusement Park’s Zippin Pippin, Conneaut Lake Park’s Blue Streak and Margate Dreamland’s Scenic Railway.

National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives

Donations made through ACE support the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives (NRCMA) and its goal of establishing a permanent museum including storage facilities for large artifacts (coaster cars, signs), maintenance of storage facilities, acquisition of larger historic artifacts and educational roller coaster exhibits.

Monetary donations are accepted anytime. ACE also accepts financial donations of cash, securities, wills and estate planning. Funds collected on behalf of the NRCMA are forwarded by ACE to its partner organization on a quarterly basis.

Employee matching gift programs are corporate giving programs in which the company matches donations or volunteer time worked by employees to benefit eligible nonprofit organizations. An employer matching donation is an easy way to increase your contribution to ACE. Requesting a matching gift is normally a short process that must be initiated by the donor. You can do this by filling out and submitting a paper match form provided by your employer or through an electronic submission process. ACE’s contact information is listed below.

In compliance with IRS regulations regarding charitable contributions, ACE affirms that no goods or services are provided to you in consideration for your gift. ACE is an exempt organization under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, and your donation may qualify as a charitable deduction for tax purposes.

To inquire further about donating to ACE, please email or use the contact information for ACE's office provided at the bottom of this web page.

Coming Soon: The ACE Archives Capital Campaign (AACC)

Our current collection of documents and memorabilia needs a permanent home. A fundraising campaign will be launched soon to obtain a permanent facility to house the collection in one location. This new facility will have space not only to protect the collection, but also for cataloging and research purposes. It also will include a small meeting space and inventory space for ACE publication back issue sales. While not a museum, it is hoped that during special events members will be able to visit and view selected items from the collection. Your donation to the AACC will help preserve ACE’s legacy for the future.
