Coaster Landmark - New Revolution

The American Coaster Enthusiasts recognizes Revolution as an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark, a designation reserved for rides of historical significance.

Acknowledged as the world’s first modern vertical looping roller coaster with tubular steel track, The Revolution opened on May 8, 1976 as The Great American Revolution. With its distinctive 45-foot diameter loop and record breaking 3,457 feet of track, its design contributed significantly to the evolution of steel roller coasters worldwide.

Custom built by Swiss ride manufacturer Intamin and based on the design of celebrated German engineer Anton Schwarzkopf (1926-2001), the ground-hugging ride has been featured in several motion pictures, including the 1977 film Rollercoaster. While it continues to appeal to riders of all ages, Revolution is now part of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s eclectic collection of thrill rides.
