Newest Honorary Member - Dave Hahner

Pittsburgh, PA During the 35th annual CoasterBash! event at Salvatore’s Events & Catering in the Baldwin section of Pittsburgh, Dave Hahner was named the newest honorary member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE).

Hahner joined the organization in 1980 and quickly became involved, helping to organize regional events. He has served as registration coordinator, a member of the regional rep team and ACE’s Membership Committee. He is also a member of ACE’s Archives Committee and Preservation Committee, and since 2008, Hahner has served as ACE’s historian. He and wife Theresa live in the West View section of Pittsburgh. They also have a son, David Hahner III.

Reading from Dave’s honorary member plaque, ACE President Elizabeth Ringas said, “Your encyclopedic knowledge of coaster history along with your diligence and thoroughness have benefited the organization.” She added, “Dave has also documented the history of amusement parks by co-authoring three books and works tirelessly to promote the industry and its history, helping to accomplish such projects as securing a Pennsylvania State historical marker to identify Idlewild as the oldest amusement park in Pennsylvania and the third oldest in the country.”

Honorary memberships are awarded to individuals and organizations who have made exceptional contributions to the fulfillment of ACE's purposes upon election by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee of the organization.
