After a jam-packed Day 1 of the 2023 IAAPA Expo, the momentum continued with a slew of more exciting announcements on Day 2. The morning began with exciting news from Sally Dark Rides. After proudly showing off its Mr. Krabs animatronic for Spongebob’s Crazy Carnival Ride going to Circus Circus Hotel in Las Vegas, it revealed that a second Spongebob-themed dark ride will be built at The Land of Legends Theme Park in Turkey! The contract was officially signed during the press conference.

Extreme Engineering then showed off its newest flat ride model, the Ollie-Loop. This skateboard-inspired attraction features a programmable turntable, allowing for different thrill levels. Its compact height of 15 ft. tall makes it ideal for indoor venues. Coaster fans were also delighted to see two ride vehicles on display for the company’s suspended coaster model, the Coaster Cloud. One model featured side-by-side seating, while the other sported a back-to-back arrangement for additional thrills.

Following yesterday’s train debut of Penguin Trek and commitment to preserve Loch Ness Monster, SeaWorld once again took the spotlight. In a joint announcement with ProSlide, the companies shared that three new RideHOUSE attractions will be built at SeaWorld waterpark properties. After seeing the popularity of this family water play structure at Sesame Place, additional custom models will be built at Aquatica San Antonio, Adventure Island Tampa Bay, and Aquatica Orlando.

In addition to yesterday’s Top Thrill 2 train reveal, Zamperla held another press conference introducing its Integrated Rides package. This package is designed to fit a new roller coaster and flat ride in one plot of land to create increased ride interaction and visual appeal to onlooking guests.

Triotech was next to introduce an exciting new product, called SuperFly. This dynamic theater attraction stands apart from the rest by having riders situated in a standing position for increased immersion, along with sensory effects such as mist and temperature features. It won’t be long until the public can experience this attraction either; the first SuperFly will be installed at Neb’s Fun World, a family entertainment center located in Ontario, Canada. Triotech also spoiled coaster lovers with a video showing off Primordial, a fully interactive indoor/outdoor dark roller coaster that opened last month at Lagoon in Farmington, Utah.

WhiteWater was next to introduce four new water attractions: the Wall Runner, which combines vertical and forward motions to create a zero-gravity effect; the Infinity Master Blaster, which features a continuous loop layout, allowing riders to board and exit the slide in the same spot; the Mini Blaster, a children’s version of the Master Blaster model; and Elevated Aqua Forms, a highly configurable water play structure designed to allow parents to easily watch children on all levels of the structure.

The day ended with a spectacular sight: a world record-breaking drone show. Guinness World Records were on site to confirm that this display had the most individual drone units of any drone show ever performed. Despite the rain, the drones powered on to provide a brilliant IAAPA-themed demonstration, showing the capabilities and potential of drone entertainment.
