Knott’s Berry Farm (Buena Park, California) officials have confirmed the delivery of sections of new track for Montezooma’s Revenge, a sign that Knott’s Berry Farm is making progress on its work to “reimagine” the famed roller coaster.
Montezooma’s Revenge has been closed since 2022. Last year, Knott’s announced that it was overhauling the 47-year-old flywheel-launched coaster but shared no specifics.
The coaster is a favorite among many thrill seekers and has been designated a Roller Coaster Landmark by the American Coaster Enthusiasts. The organization recognizes Montezooma’s Revenge as the last operating ride of its kind in the United States and the longest standing in its original location.
A reopening date for the roller coaster has not been announced.
Great news! my first CoasterCon and was there June 20, 2019 for landmark ceremony. My favorite coater for 20 years was Tidal Wave at SFGrAm, so it was great to ride this after a 20+ year gap. Was also fortunate to ride Turbine at Walibi with JCE. Thanks Rus!
