Kennywood will start off-season track work on Thunderbolt earlier than usual, and the roller coaster won't be running when the West Mifflin, Pennsylvania park transitions to Phantom Fright Nights later this month.

Thunderbolt will not operate during Phantom Fright Nights so that extensive track replacement work can be completed for opening day 2020.

Thunderbolt is scheduled to be open on Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15, the final days of Kennywood's 121st season and will operate for Brews in the Park, a 21-and-over event, on September 21 and the Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival on September 22.
