ACEers have a passion for riding roller coasters, so when that passion can help others at the same time, that is the definition of a win-win. The upcoming Coasting for Kids events at various parks across the country will give coaster riders the opportunity to do something fun and support a good cause.

Events generally include park admission as well as exclusive ride time (ERT) on a few coasters or rides. Instead of paying an event registration fee, attendance is free provided at least $100 in donations have been raised by the attendee to help Give Kids The World Village, a nonprofit “storybook” resort that gives kids with critical illnesses a week away from hospital stays and medical treatments to enjoy Central Florida’s theme parks. Children and their families are treated to weeklong, cost-free vacations, complete with accommodations, donated attraction tickets, meals and more. Since 1986, Give Kids The World Village has welcomed more than 165,000 families.

Throughout the spring and summer months, 16 parks in 12 different states will host Coasting for Kids events, starting at Busch Gardens Williamsburg on March 23 and ending at Kennywood on September 1. Individual event dates and information are included on ACE’s events calendar (look for the ACE Cares logo) and can be found on the Coasting for Kids site. Interested attendees should select their closest or favorite participating park, register online and create a personal fundraising page. Once you raise at least $100 in donations, the rest is all downhill — after the lift hill, of course.

If you decide to sign up, be sure to join as part of the ACE Cares team when you register, so that you can show your ACE pride as well. You can attend as many of the events as you like, provided you raise at least $100 for each park event. If you cannot participate in an event but want to support Give Kids The World Village, consider donating to a fellow ACEer who is participating. You are still supporting a great cause while helping a fellow ACEer qualify to attend.

ACE and Coasting for Kids is a winning combination.

So happy to be able to finally participate in this event! It's a great service to so many families in need of time to just focus on fun. And we'll have fun riding coasters and also giving more opportunities for more smiles in the future.
