Racer, the classic, 1972 racing roller coaster at Kings Island, Mason, Ohio, should be much smoother when the park opens for the 2019 season. Over the past month, workers from Great Coasters International have been re-tracking the back turns with new track and supports as well as the approach and exit hills. The work is considered part of regularly scheduled maintenance, but is more extensive than normal wintertime painting and reconditioning.

I hope KI and GCI will eliminate the Check Brake in the turn around and let the trains travel at the speeds I did before the brake was added. Perhaps Magnetic Braking can be added as the Trains approach the Holding and Safety Brakes. Racer 75 doesn't have a Check Brake on the Turn Around. Also eliminating the Check Brake on the Racer at KI will also deliver some CRAZY AIRTIME on the return run back to the load/unload station. PS. I'd like to see KI run one Train on the Racer backward, at lease during Halloween Haunt.
