In case you
haven't heard, Kennywood is adding a new coaster
for 2019. And not only is The Steel
Curtain new, but it's darn big, and is
one of enthusiasts' most anticipated new coasters this year. It was also
very nice of Kennywood to launch their
largest new coaster project ever to debut, in
the celebratory 30th year of KennyKon! At
220 feet, The Steel Curtain is higher
than any coaster in the state. With nine
inversions, that's more than any in North
America. And with more than 4,000 feet of
track, that's longer than any other coaster
at Kennywood! And like nearly all of the
park's coasters, it's a custom design. It's our hope
and expectation that The
Steel Curtain will be reliably operating at the
time of the event, and therefore we're planning to
include it on our morning ERT.
However, like all new installations, especially ones with new
designs, technical challenges can prevail.
If the new ride isn't operating, alternate ERT arrangements will be made and we'll
still plan to celebrate our 30th KennyKon in
