ACE is returning to Southern California for Coaster Con 42. The convention starts on Sunday, June 16, and runs through Thursday, June 20, at Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, California) and Knott’s Berry Farm (Buena Park, California).

ACE members start off the week with three days at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Opened in May 1971, the park featured and still operates the family-friendly Magic Flyer and the classic Arrow mine train, Gold Rusher. In 1976, the iconic Schwarzkopf-designed Revolution sent riders through a vertical loop for the first time and still thrills riders to this day. Overall, the park features 19 roller coasters of all shapes and sizes. Be sure not to miss coaster enthusiast favorites like the 1988 Arrow looping giant Viper, the dizzying heights of Superman: Escape from Krypton, the pulse-pounding drops of Goliath and the thrilling enigma of Riddler’s Revenge. Soar through the sky on Tatsu, the dark knight’s own Batman The Ride and the unique experience of X2. New for the 2019 season is West Coast Racers, a thrilling racing steel coaster from Premier Rides that is currently under construction. The park also features a merry-go-round by Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc. (PTC #21), which dates back to 1912; a classic Arrow log flume, Jet Stream; a 400-foot free-fall drop ride, Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom; the Justice League: Battle for Metropolis interactive 4-D dark ride; and the new-for-2018 Zamperla Giga Discovery pendulum ride, CraZanity.

The final two days will be at Knott’s Berry Farm. The park traces its history back to the 1920s when the Knott family first arrived in Buena Park, California, and started a berry farm. The family originally sold fresh berries, berry preserves and pies at a roadside stand along State Route 39. By 1940, Walter Knott created a replica Ghost Town and then in the 1950s started a “summer-long county fair.” The first roller coaster was built in 1975 with Corkscrew, which was the first ever roller coaster to feature a corkscrew ride element, followed by the 1976 steeplechase-style Cycle Chase (later named Wacky Soap Box Racers), new ACE Roller Coaster Landmark Montezooma’s Revenge in 1978 and the family-friendly Timberline Twister in 1983. Today, the park includes modern coaster classics like the Intamin-designed Xcelerator, the inverted thrills of Silver Bullet, the recently refurbished wooden GhostRider, the family-friendly Sierra Sidewinder and Pony Express and the hairpin turns of Coast Rider. In 2018, the park debuted the widely successful HangTime, a compact Infinity dive coaster from Gerstlauer. Also popular at the park are the world-famous Mrs. Knott’s chicken dinner, Calico Mine Ride mine train and dark ride, an authentic three-foot narrow-gauge train ride, one of the world’s oldest operating Dentzel carousels and a 4-D interactive dark ride named Voyage to the Iron Reef.

A phone number is required to process your registration. A confirmation will be sent to the email address listed in your ACE profile. If you provide a different email address during registration, your profile will be updated with that address. If a confirmation is not received shortly after you register, please call 469.278.6223, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Central time or send an email to info@aceonline.org.

NO MATERIALS WILL BE SENT IN ADVANCE
All materials, including name badges and admission tickets, will be provided at the event. All materials must be picked up at scheduled check-in times. If you are unable to do so, you must contact ACE Registration Manager Dan Jones by phone before 10 p.m. Eastern time at 330.717.7570, or email djones@aceonline.org, to make alternate arrangements.

PAYMENT
Make checks or money orders payable to American Coaster Enthusiasts. Write your membership number in the “memo” space. Visa, Mastercard, Discover and PayPal are also accepted.

NONMEMBERS
Nonmembers must be guests of an attending member. Members must include their nonmember guests on the registration and are responsible for the actions and behaviors of those guests. Register members first. Nonmembers are considered guests of the first member listed. For nonmembers, enter "nonmember" in the member number field. If registering by mail and additional space is needed, photocopy the form or use a blank piece of paper. Nonmembers are welcome to become members and register at the member rate. Become a member at join.aceonline.org, or include a completed membership application and the appropriate dues with the mailed-in registration form.

NAME BADGES
The name, city and state as they appear on your registration will be used for name badges. There is no charge for children two years and under, but we do need their names for name badges. Please list their names when registering.

VEGETARIAN OPTION
Please check the vegetarian option for any attendees who prefer a vegetarian option. ACE needs to provide the host parks with an accurate count in advance. Knott's Berry Farm has baked ziti, a vegetarian entree, on the main menu, so checking the option will not result in a special meal at this park.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Volunteering during Coaster Con is a great way to give back to the club and meet other members. Please indicate your preferred volunteer shift(s) when registering online or by mail.
