American Coaster Enthusiasts' 37th National Convention Set for California's Great America, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and Gilroy Gardens

American Coaster Enthusiasts to ride 21 different coasters during a special week of northern California thrills and fun.

SANTA CLARA, VALLEJO, SANTA CRUZ and GILROY, CA – Nearly 400 roller coaster enthusiasts from across the country will come together in northern California at California's Great America (June 15-17), Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (June 18), Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (June 19) and Gilroy Gardens (June 20) to celebrate Coaster Con XXXVII. A six-day celebration of all things roller coaster, the 37th annual convention of American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) will include hours and hours of roller coaster riding exclusively for attendees before and after the park is open to the public.

Steel coaster aficionados in attendance are eager to get their fill of hair-raising inversions, radically banked turns and exhilarating surges of speed during the exclusive ride time (ERT) sessions on the inverted Flight Deck at California's Great America, spine-tingling Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, spinning Undertow at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and family friendly Quicksilver Express at Gilroy Gardens. Wood coaster fans attending ACE's largest annual event are looking forward to experiencing the weightless "airtime" sensations during ERT sessions on new and wild Gold Striker at California's Great America, twisting Roar at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and the classic Giant Dipper at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Attendees will enjoy camaraderie with fellow fans and share stories of coasters ridden in all corners of the world, as many ACE members have traveled to Europe, South America, Australia and Asia. Anywhere there is a coaster, you will find an ACEer. Attendees will also enjoy picnics, contests, activities for younger children and teens, surprises and a General Store featuring club-related merchandise from T-shirts to license plate frames as well as other vendor booths with roller coaster–related items. The Midway Olympics, an annual tradition, pits teams of five against one another in competitions of carnival games such as Whack-a-Mole and basketball free throw. The California's Great America portion of Coaster Con XXXVII includes a banquet at the convention hotel.

A highlight of the event will take place June 19, when ACE will celebrate Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's iconic wood coaster, Giant Dipper, with a 90th anniversary party. Designed and built by industry legends Frederick Church and Arthur Looff, Giant Dipper is a National Historic Landmark and an ACE Roller Coaster Landmark. As California's oldest operating roller coaster, ACE applauds Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for continued excellence in maintaining and preserving Giant Dipper, a rare seaside coaster and historic cultural treasure that still delights its multigenerational fan base. The ACE Coaster Landmark designation is rare and coveted, as only a small number of coasters have earned this status denoting their position in the amusement industry as historically significant.
