Incredible Hulk Coaster Removal Progresses as Universal Gives Minimal Clues on Rebuild

As November began, all that remained standing of The Incredible Hulk Coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando was the initial launch "cannon" and the steel structure of the coaster's fourth inversion, a 110-foot-tall vertical loop. The massive green multi-inversion thriller has towered over Marvel Superhero Island since the billion-dollar theme park premiered in 1999; it is being completely replaced by a new steel coaster of the same powerful thematic, though official details have been minimal. After weeks of uncertainty, it has been confirmed by Universal that the new Hulk will indeed be manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, creators of the original coaster, and will occupy the same site, though it will have an updated launch system (the original Hulk used a drivewheel acceleration system designed and installed by a subcontracted firm). It's also clear that new trains will be part of the package, since images have circulated of the original B&M sitting coaches tossed into a recycling yard along with dismantled steel structural sections. Still, any further details on how similar the course of the new ride will be to the original, or what style of vehicles or launch technology might be used, are unknown for now. The new version of The Incredible Hulk Coaster will re-emerge in summer 2016.
