IRON SHARK STRIKES GALVESTON

Iron Shark, the custom-designed Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster at the new Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier in Texas, took its first victims/riders on the afternoon of June 1. After the 100-foot vertical climb, the three, eight-passenger vehicles plummet down the 97-degree, beyond vertical drop. Gray columns support 1,246 feet of blue steel track that takes riders, who are secured only with lap bars, through an Immelman, followed by a diving loop, a top hat and an inclined loop.
