Alabama Adventure Theme Park, Bessemer, Alabama, scheduled to open for the season this coming weekend, is going to delay opening of the park in light of the devastating tornadoes that tore through the area on Wednesday, April 28. One tornado passed within three miles of the park, and although the park itself was not damaged, many homes and businesses in the surrounding areas were destroyed.

According to the park's Facebook page, the park does plan to open on May 7, however that date could get pushed back. It is likely to take the area a long time to recover from the extensive damage caused by the EF5 tornado. More than 260 people are confirmed dead as a result of the numerous tornadoes that swept through the southern states.
