It is with great sadness that we pass along the news that Alan Glueckman, a former key ACE volunteer and former Assistant Regional Representative, passed away unexpectedly in the evening of March 18, 2015, in his Orlando home. Alan's ACE membership lapsed about two years ago, but he was once a very active member, is known by many, and his volunteerism had a wide impact on the organization.
About 15 years ago at an at ACE Annual Business Meeting, Alan took the microphone and suggested that a Video Contest be part of the annual Coaster Con activities. When asked if he would coordinate it, he agreed, launched the Video Contest and served as its coordinator for the first few years. To this day, it remains a highlight of the annual convention. In 2002, along with David Escalante, he was pivotal in arranging a guest panel of celebrities that appeared in the motion picture "Rollercoaster" as a way of helping ACE to celebrate its 25th anniversary during Coaster Con XXIV at Six Flags Magic Mountain. He also served as the A/V coordinator and director of the "on stage program" of the ACE Annual Banquet for several years, adding his creativity and a great degree of professionalism to it.
After moving from Southern California to Florida, he joined the ACE Florida regional rep team and was instrumental in breaking through barriers at Walt Disney World to create the E-Ticket Challenge, an event that included bumping the line on 12 major attractions, a meal, a guest speaker and a dessert party, all for under $80.
Outside of ACE, Alan was born in Detroit, Michigan and earned an MBA from Columbia University. In his professional life, Alan's career was woven in the fabric of the entertainment industry. His accomplishments included serving as head writer for an episode of the television series "Xena: Warrior Princess." He was also founder and president of eJAMMING AUDiiO, which allows musicians to collaborate online.
Thanks for all that you did for ACE, Alan. Rest in peace.
