World's First Racing Launch Coaster to Debut at Six Flags Magic Mountain

West Coast Racers, the world's first racing launch coaster, is slated to open in 2019 at Six Flags Magic Mountain, in Valencia, California.

The three-minute journey covers terrain-hugging, side-by-side tracks with riders sitting two abreast on sleek West Coast Customs-designed cars. The course includes multiple airtime hills, extreme high-banked turns and over/under near misses. A highlight of the ride is a real time 'pit stop' designed to provide riders with a racing experience (no change of tires, though).

Ride features include the following:

  • A record-breaking four magnetic launches, including a side-by-side first and second race launch
  • Four total inversions: three zero-G rolls and a zero-G stall
  • 14 track crossovers and a "high-five"
  • Side-by-side airtime hills and overbanked turns
  • Speeds up to 55 mph
  • West Coast Racers will be located in a new LA centric, urban-themed area with a high-energy street vibe. The area currently includes Apocalypse and the Cyclone 500 Go Karts, which will undergo re-theming.
