Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio, is making way for future development in FrontierTown. That development also means it's time to say goodbye to what was the tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster in the world -- Mean Streak.
Why's it going away? They're not saying. But now is your chance to pay your last respects to the park's wooden thriller.
Mean Streak is open daily through September 5, and Saturday and Sunday, September 10 and 11. On Friday night, September 16, the opening night of Cedar Point's 20th HalloWeekends, they're saying the final goodbyes to Mean Streak. From 6 to 7 p.m., guests can take one final trip along the giant wooden structure. Then at 7:30, a special closing ceremony will be held to give "last rites" to the ride and march in procession from FrontierTown to the Dead Rides Cemetery near the front of the park.
What's next? We'll report as soon as we find out!
