Dorney Park has sold Laser, the Anton Schwarzkopf double looper that has been at the park for 22 years. It will remain open through the end of the 2008 season. Dorney has not said who bought the ride, but some industry insiders have suggested the ride may be going to the German fair circuit.
The history of this coaster is somewhat of a mystery. It may have operated as Cobra at Parque Ciudad in Argentina. Dorney purchased the ride in 1986 from Playcenter São Paulo, Brazil where it operated for several years as Colossus. When first moved to Dorney it was originally named Colossus, the name was later changed to Laser.
Schwarzkopf built three or four portable Doppel Looping coasters. One was operated for several years by Conklin Shows based out of Florida and is currently for sale. Another is currently operating as Colossus the Fire Dragon at Lagoon Park in Utah. That coaster which has an extra helix added to the layout, originally came from the German fair circuit
