The recently reopened Ghost Town in the Sky has delayed the reopening of the Cliff Hanger roller coaster until next season.
The coaster, built in 1988 by O. D. Hopkins, has been sitting idle since July of 2002. Park management announced that the ride, originally called Red Devil, would not be in operation this year. The delay is due to “extensive restoration and updating safety components.”
Almost all of Ghost Town’s other attractions are running. The antique scenic train is expected to begin operations August 1. The 1960s incline railroad which along with the chairlift, brings guests up the side of Buck Mountain into the park, is expected to be hauling passengers by fall.
