Indiana Beach will be the first park in the U.S. to debut an El Loco roller coaster from S&S Worldwide, Inc. Steel Hawg will rise 96 feet above the ground and feature a 120 degree first drop along with multiple inversions. The new coaster will be the sixth for Indiana Beach, and the first major steel coaster to be constructed in the state. Four guests at a time will take their seats in one of 4 individual cars then negotiate tight turns, 90 degree banks, and one-of-a-kind elements at speeds reaching 41 mph. Steel Hawg will be located on the north side of the park near Hoosier Hurricane and the flume ride. The coaster is expected to open in mid-May.
