Our good friends at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari have announced Wildebeest, the world's longest water coaster, for the 2010 season. Unlike previous water coasters, riders will board Wildebeest at ground level and ride a conveyor belt to the top before plunging down a four story drop at a 45 degree angle. The four-person rafts will then encounter linear induction motors (LIMS) to propel them uphill seven times, through three tunnels and around a helix as they traverse the 1,710-foot course at speeds approaching 25 mph. Wildebeest will cover more than two acres and its tallest elevation is 64 feet higher than its lowest drop. The ride will be designed and built by ProSlide Technology Inc. of Ontario, Canada.
